Annual Conference- Passion for God AND Compassion for Man |
To drive means to "guide", "control", and "direct." By that definition, every church is driven by something. Many churches are driven by things like tradition, personalities, programs, building, events, and finances (just to name a few). In contrast to this, a purpose driven conference defines why it exists, and uses that purpose to grow. What is the driving force behind South Florida 'A' Annual Conference? The Great Commandment - Jesus replied: "'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments" (Matthew 22:37-40). The Great Commission - "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age" (Matthew 28:18-20). Based on these two great statements
given to the church by Jesus, the driving force behind South
Florida 'A' Annual Conference is to emphasize, and carry out,
five key functions:
Thus, Jesus' purpose for South Florida 'A' Annual Conference is five-fold: 1. We are to worship God. God
"inhabits the praise of His people." Through worship
we express our love to Him. To be purpose driven means we
earnestly desire to fulfill the Great Commission and obey the
Great Commandment. How can we accomplish this? By having a shared
vision, implementing our mission, not compromising our core values,
and by working together as we grow Christ's Kingdom. OUR MOTTO: |
